New Job at Bank

I’ll be starting a new job as a part-time mobile CSR at Park Royal West Van tomorrow at RBC. 6 weeks training! Wow, quite extensive. At Union Bank it was only a week of training. I’m looking forward to re-entering the workforce after taking a 4 month break trying to improve my health. I’m still not 100% but I do feel a bit better than before. When I was job searching mainly in banking, I had two interviews one with HSBC and RBC. I heard that Canadian companies only consider Canadian work experience so I was a little concerned that my US experience wouldn’t mean anything. But actually they did consider my US experience and the banks were quite interested in my job experience at Union Bank. I think that experience gave me an edge. Also knowing 3 people who work at RBC may have helped including my cousin Jessica! HSBC was at the Kerrisdale branch unfortunately the manager went on a three week vacation so I didn’t hear back for a while. During that time, an opportunity popped up at RBC in North Van/West Van for a mobile rep, I applied. The whole process was pretty smooth the best interview process I experienced so far. On a Wednesday after applying online at my lucky West Van library, two hours later I hear back from the recruiter. I call back and schedule a telephone interview Thursday. After the phone interview an in branch interview was scheduled on Friday. In branch interview was pretty tough with 3 people asking you questions back and forth. I froze in one of the questions and it was quite awkward; I thought I blew my opportunity. Heard back on Tuesday next week receiving the offer! I was a little surprised and pleased at the same time. Looking forward to working in a bank in Canada for the first time.

The old logo brings back old memories to me even as a kid in the 90′s.
